First Picture of a Black Hole

The first picture ever taken of a black hole can be seen above. It’s the gigantic one at the center of galaxy M87, which is about 54 million light years away.

The image is made from, wait for it, 5 Petabytes, of data. PETABYTES! A petabyte is 2^50 bytes; 1024 terabytes, or a million gigabytes.
